To receive a diploma in Medical Assistant you must complete all core subjects and elective subjects with an average grade of "C" or better. For your convenience each module outline is listed below. Students learn essential medical terminologies, prescription and pharmacy etiquette, FDA and DEA regulations, calculate dosages in adults and pediatric patients.

Identification of emergencies of clinical management and first aid given in heart attack, asthma, shock, stroke, diabetic coma, heat exhaustion, frostbite, bleeding and allergies. Knowledge of accidents, injuries, insect bite, burns, foreign body, fractures and dislocations is given. Various forms of bandage application and splint application are familiarized. CPR and basic diagnostic Imaging.

Clinical chemistry, hematology, microbiology, serology and lab equipment in a physician office laboratory (POL) according to current state and federal regulation. Also, covers specimen processing, handling and transportation, blood and urine slide preparation. Teaches instrument use and care of instruments.

The significance and differences of special patients, immunizations, different lab results depending on the age and patient's status, in health and disorders, use of restraints, safety, psychosocial development, balanced diet and exercise and sleep. Knowledge of supplemental vitamins and minerals is provided. Students have to identify situations of mobility assistance. Students are taught to help patient with proper use of mobility assistance devices.
