The Microsoft .NET Platform, the .NET Framework, the .NET Framework Components, and Visual Basic enhancements. The Main elements of the .NET platform and the .NET Framework and its components will be discusses. Other areas discussed are the new IDE, file structures, properties, task list, object browser, and debugging. Students will build and compile a simple application.

Data types in Visual Basic .NET, Declare and initialize variables and arrays, shorthand syntax to assign values to variables, and Implement functions and subroutines. Additional programming techniques are covered such as the default properties of an object, catch, and exception handling, and object programming concepts.

Web Developers who have a basic knowledge of HTML and DHTML and some scripting language. The .NET Framework and ASP.NET areas will be discussed and a component of VB will be created. Also, ASP Web Forms will be created and populated.

Use of the Trace and Debug objects that are provided with Visual Studio .NET, Use validation controls to validate user input, creation of a user control, accessing data by using the built-in data access tools that are available in Visual Studio .NET and using Microsoft ADO.NET to access data in an ASP.NET Web application.

Use attributes to configure an assembly as a COM+ application and create components that use JIT activation as well as synchronized components. Students will create a Transactional Component, Update the Order Processing Component , Update the Order App Web Application, and Test with the Order Approval Client.

An Introduction to Loosely Coupled Events, COM+ Events, Using Loosely Coupled Events, and a description as to why LCEs are needed. Also, the architecture of the LCE system is covered, and students will configure the LCE system programmatically and will use the Component Services administrative tool. The student will implement publishers, subscribers, and event classes.

Each student will check for entity types that should be combined and note any arithmetic derivations, implement primitive entity types, implement derived fact types and apply CSDP steps. This course gives examples of storage options, diagrams the architecture of data-centric applications, shows connected, disconnected, and mixed environments based on application requirements.
