The College of Information Technology (CIT) was established in 1999 as part of the vision and development of the Engineer's Group. In 1996, The Engineer's Group established itself as a premier technology job placement company. As time progressed, it became clear to the owners of the Engineer's Group that in order to continue to successfully complete their mission they needed to provide certification training. CIT came into existence as a direct result of this knowledge.

In the beginning, the initial focus for the college was in the area of providing coursework relating to the certification process offered through the Microsoft Corporation. It has since expanded to include certifications offered by the Cisco Corporation, the CompTIA Corporation, the Oracle Corporation, and the Certified Internet Webmaster Group. CIT has become established as an advanced technology and medical education center specializing in the rapidly expanding fields of computer and networking technologies as well as the ever consistent, though varied, medical and dental fields.

The year 2003 was a milestone in the history of the school. In response to the growing trend and rise in the need of highly qualified and trained individuals in the medical and dental technology fields, the college management made the historic decision to add an array of medical programs to our already substantial curriculum. The direct impact of this event has enabled CIT to dramatically effect the provision of not only computer technology training but also the diversified allied medical training. During this process CIT discovered that an overwhelming number of bilingual and primarily Spanish speaking individuals were seeking training in this area, and unfortunately were unable to find it. CIT stepped up to the plate and became approved for training these individuals in their native language.

The State of California licenses CIT as a vocational training school for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education (BPPVE). CIT is also listed on the Intrastate Training Resources and Information Network (I-Train) and the Eligible Training Provider List (ETPL) both of which identify the eligibility for referrals from the Workforce Investment Act (WIA). Located in Fullerton, California, the college occupies property and facilities dedicated to serve the students, including extensive classroom, administrative and student service functions, as well as substantial parking. CIT is currently working with State and Federal employment and training agencies and rehabilitation counselors. In addition, CIT provides training services to private companies and public agencies which provide specialized training that is responsive to both the customer and the students needs.

In April 2004, the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT) approved CIT for national accreditation. By becoming an accredited institution, CIT has joined in partnership with other vocational educators who are committed to providing programs of quality and to conducting their affairs with honesty, integrity and dignity. This partnership proudly embraces continuous self-analysis and the achievement of ambitious educational goals.
