CompTIA recently convened a core of A+ subject matter experts representing a diverse group of IT professionals, which resulted in the revised CompTIA A+ Core Hardware (2003) examination Objectives. The A+ Core Hardware exam will continues to validate that the successful candidate has the important knowledge and skills necessary to competently install, build, configure, upgrade, troubleshoot and repair personal computer compatible hardware including troubleshooting basic network and internet connectivity, dial-up, DSL, and cable. Additionally, the A+ Core Hardware exam will cover the latest memory, bus, peripherals, and wireless technologies.

CompTIA recently convened a core of A+ subject matter experts representing a diverse group of IT professionals, which resulted in the revised CompTIA A+ Operating System Technologies (2003) examination Objectives. The A+ Operating System Technologies exam will continue to validate that the successful candidate can demonstrate basic knowledge of operating systems (Windows 9x, Windows NT 4.0 Workstation, and Windows 2000). Additionally, the 2003 Objectives will cover later operating systems (Windows Me and Windows XP).

Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices

The CCNA exam is the qualifying exam available to candidates pursuing a single-exam option for the Cisco Certified Network Associate CCNA certification. The CCNA (640-801) exam will test materials from the new Interconnection Cisco Network Devices (ICND) course as well as the new Introduction to Cisco Networking Technologies (INTRO) course. The exam will certify that the successful candidate has important knowledge and skills necessary to select, connect, configure, and troubleshoot the various Cisco networking devices. The exam covers topics on Extending Switched Networks with VLANS, Determining IP Routes, Managing IP traffic with Access Lists, Establishing Point-to-Point connections, and Establishing Frame Relay Connections.

The Building Scalable Cisco Internetworks exam is a qualifying exam for the CCNP®, CCDP®, and CCIPT certifications. The BSCI exam (642-801) tests materials covered under the new Building Scalable Cisco Internetworks (BSCI) course. The exam will certify that the successful candidate has important knowledge and skills necessary to use advanced IP addressing and routing in implementing scalability for Cisco routers connected to LANs and WANs. The exam covers topics on Advanced IP Addressing, Routing Principles, Configuring the EIGRP, Configuring the Open Shortest Path First Protocol, Configuring IS-IS, Manipulating Routing Updates, and configuring basic BGP.
